NBA Finals Preview
King LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to meet the San Antonio on Thursday night in San Antonio. The Spurs are favored and with good reasons like Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, "Big Shot Bob" Horry, and others.
Coaching: Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich has the experience and the rings to back it up. However, Cavs Head Coach Mike Brown is a former Popovich assistant so he probably picked up a few tricks from his former boss. Coaches Brown and Popovich are close and exchanged voicemails during the conference finals. (Disclosure: I have yet to meet Coach Popovich but have a couple of friends who are friends of his.)
Goals / Psychology: The Cavs seem to be happy to have won their championship, the Eastern Conference Finals, and seem somewhat relieved and contented just making it to the NBA Finals while the Spurs want to win it all. Tony Parker is getting married in July to "Desperate Housewife" and "The Sentinel" star Eva Longoria and would love to give his beautiful bride a championship ring next to her wedding ring.
Players: The Spurs have the deeper bench. The Cavs Larry Hughes is injured. Who else will step up for the Cavs besides LeBron?
X Factor: How the Spurs defend LeBron. Expect defensive whiz Bruce Bowen to get lots of help from Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and everyone else and the kitchen sink. The Spurs will try different schemes and make the other Cavs beat them.
Prediction: Spurs in Six Games though I am rooting for LeBron because he seems like a good guy and you never know how many chances he will have. Just ask Dan Marino who never got back to the Super Bowl after his second season. Enjoy what should be an entertaining Finals.
