It was a World Series rematch between the Yankees and Phillies on Thursday at the Phillies Spring Training home in Clearwater. CC pitched two scoreless innings for the Yankees.
Newly acquired Phillies ace Roy Halladay was "filthy" according to Yankees in two scoreless innings. The Phillies won the game 3-2. Yes, it's only the second game of Spring Training but the Phillies showed they are loaded and ready to go. If the Phillies were able to get Halladay last year at the trade deadline, I would have given them the World Series Trophy last summer. Halladay is that good and has haunted AL East opponents for years. I am glad he is out of the AL.
The Phillies got rid of Cliff Lee during the off season. But they are still the team to beat in the NL. Who predicted the Yankees victory in six games in the World Series last year? Not Sports Illustrated but The Tank. (Granted the Mets weren’t the opponent but I predicted Yankees in six games.) I'll post more detailed "Take to the bank with The Tank" picks before Opening Day.
